Description

Needing to snap some pics for insurance purposes, I thought I would post my system in its temporary surroundings. A major home renovation has the family living in temporary digs and my listening room has seen a bit of a compromise. Say what you will about the positioning of my speakers, subs, and even how my gear is housed on my garage-made media cabinet...this is what I have to work with for the time being. The sound diffusers are also garage made. Despite it all, the sound is still unbelievably sublime!

Thank you, @dcevans! Yes, I was a skeptic of the use of subs in my system for years...call me a purist. Try as I might, I could not quite get the low end and punch that I wanted in a pair of full range towers, at least not in my listening room...and I tried quite a few of varying sizes and price ranges.
The Aric Audio Motherlode and Coda pairing work well for me and has significantly tamed the search for the,"audio dragon".

Yes, the Motherlode has adjustable gain control...I believe that all of his preamps/line stages have this feature. It is dead quiet and as dependable as any piece of gear that I have owned. I have heard both the Supratek and the Don Sachs preamp(not in my system). For my ears, I thought the Don Sachs was more musical. Aric's entry level line stages, again in my opinion, outperformed them both. Reach out to him.

Grateful for the kind comments! The Aric Audio/Coda combination represents the pinnacle of my solid state amp/tube preamp pairings. Dead quiet, expressive, and a joy to listen to for hours on end. Previously I had both the Pass Labs XA60.8 and XA160.8 with the Pass XP20 preamp and I was underwhelmed beyond describe. I then worked with Aric to create The Motherlode and the Pass amps sounded much better(the Pass preamps really are the most anemic and unexciting preamps I have heard). Having an older Coda Model 11, I bought the Model 16, sold the Pass and never looked back.

Thank you! The 301, and this one in particular, is special in every aspect...stated with some bias.
