Ok Ive got $17,000 worth of gear connected to my $350 surrounds that are doubleing as my front mains. I must say, this is the best i've ever heard them sound. The bass is still weak though and the soundstage is suffering a bit. Do you guys think some dedicated stands would improve things?
In any case, the combination of el cheapo speakers and an expensive electronics almost always sounds much better than the other way round. A couple of years back, I have heard a demo of (then new) Marantz CD-7 player and an expensive Marantz integrated driving $150 Tannoy Merkury M1 speakers. The sound was jaw dropping. The demo was conducted by Ken Ishiwata himself.
Welcome to the club. I currently have $500 Marantz CD driving $23000 Avalon Eidolon Vision. Even my cables cost 16x more than the Marantz CD player, LOL.
