Hi Jaxwired,
I have Primaluna Prologue preamp and considering buying a power amp. My shortlist is:
Bel Canto REF500M mono block (used)
Wyred 4 Sound ST500 MKII
Wyred 4 Sound SX 1000
Among these 3 which one do you recommend? I read your topic about the ST 1000 MKII however I dont have the budget to buy it brand new.
Could you please give me some opinions/advice.
Many thanks

Kyle

Jaxwired,
Saw your video of the new PMC Fact.8 loudspeakers. How do you like these compared to the older PMC? What other loudspeakers did you compare them with, before settling down with these?

Thanks skateman. Exactly right, 2 channel listening room first, home theater room second.

jaxwired

That is a well done space. Like the peanut gallery in back for watching TV! The music chair up front clearly indicates your priorities.

skateman

Very nice room , love your system Very clean and neat!

mattmiller

Very kool space. Nice photography and nice system. Enjoy.

Pic was take using a Fuji X-E2 camera and a X-Mount Rokinon 8mm fisheye lens.

jaxwired

Congrats on the new preamp. What lens did you use to take this picture?

Thank you Rantzmar.

I've recently changed preamps. Now using a PrimaLuna ProLogue Premium and LOVE it! New pics soon. : )

jaxwired

Nice room! I also enjoy your youtube music. Keep up the great music!

rantzmar

Nice!
I love that room picture ;-)

Hi Doug,

As you say, the distance is greatly distorted. I'm using an ultra wide angle (fisheye) lens to get the entire room in one pic. The wider angle a lens has the greater distances are exaggerated. My entire room is only 17.5' deep. My ears are only about 10' from the face of the speakers. : )

jaxwired

Jaxwired, I admire the tidy nature of your room; kudos on a clean system!

I'm sure the room pic distorts the perception of the distance but I'm curious how far you sit from the speakers. In the pic it looks like a loooooong way, but I'm guessing you are about 15 feet away? Ever tried a near(er) field setup with speakers placed wider, and toed in? You might have fun with that. Looks like the speakers and chair is movable easily enough; it could be fun with minimal effort.

douglas_schroeder

Where are you located? In a railway wagon? :)

Great pic! What's the one thing you like most about how your PMC's sound?

Update: just saw your "7 months in" post and from there the youtube videos. Congrats! Can see more than a glimpse of why they are so good!!

I read your thread regarding warm and lush speakers. I hope you found such speakers. If so, tell me what you got, because I am looking for the same.

elegal

Beautiful system! I really like the look of the low-to-the-ground shelving unit.

salectric

Love the new setup!!!

Have always loved the simplicity of your system and clean looks of your audio rack. Looks like a simple IKEA tv stand in white. I was actually thinking of getting 2 of the same tv stands myself, making taller legs for the 2nd one and putting one on top of the other. My system has been a huge work in progress lately with a different old school system in my bedroom and much different fleawatt system in the LR which has yet to be updated on a'gon but hope to get around to it very soon once I reconfigure a few things. Will keep you posted. Enjoy :)

Tboooe,

Well, I owned some PMC OB1i's in the past and I loved them and always regretted selling them. The dynaudio line of speakers are all superb but ultimately I enjoy my music a smidge more with the PMCs. Love these speakers so much I've considered chucking the shipping boxes. That's saying a lot for a habitual box swapper like me. Had these for about six months now and still thrilled.

mjcmt,

Yes, in the first pic you can see a small black box on the bottom shelf. That's a computer running windows 8. It is fanless with a low heat motherboard. It has an internal solid state 500Gb hard drive. There are no moving parts in the box, completely silent. There is a xonar STX sound card installed which provides spdif coax output from the computer to my DAC.
