Description

This is my budget system... Someday I will have a better system, but for now this is what I can afford... My sources are an Ipod with lossless files, MOG streaming service and the digital output from my tv... I have had it all for about two months and listen to it on a daily basis... I must say that I really believe that break in time really does make a diference... Things that sounded "shrill" when I first put this all together are so much smoother and warmer now... Thanks for looking at my setup...I hope that you all like my little system...

System edited: There's been an update... I've upgraded my speaker cables to Morrow Audio SP-4's and I've also upgraded my interconnects to Morrow Audio MA-4's... These cables have replaced the Goertz MI-2 Veracity speaker cables and the Micropurl interconnects... I'm happy with the change... Next, I will be upgrading my digital coax from the DH-Labs Silver Sonic to the Morrow Audio Dig-4...

To tell you the truth, no I didn't try the Bifrost on the laptop... I just decided to rule out using the laptop... I ordered the non-usb Bifrost... I'm completely happy with using my ipod... Sounds just as good as NAD cd players I've had in the past, if not better... I only use MOG and Apple Lossless files for the albums that I cannot find on MOG... I don't bother with any of the other streaming services like Pandora because they don't sound nearly as good as MOG...

I really like the Bifrost a lot... Before I decided to use my Ipod as my source I was originally was gonna use my laptop... I had a Musical Fidelity VDACII hooked up to my laptop via usb... I was having issues with a clicking sound coming through my speakers so I had tried another VDACII and the problem was still there so returned both of the VDACs and totally ruled out using my laptop as a source... I then decided on using my ipod and ordered the Cambridge Audio dock and the Bifrost... Let me tell you, I cannot believe the sound quality that I'm getting out of this little ipod from extracting the pure digital from it... Also, let me tell you that the Bifrost is a completely different animal than the VDACII... So much more natural sounding, warm, has a much better soundstage and its just a matter of pressing the single button on the front to switch to the tv input which makes it easy for my girlfriend to operate(I have the tv's internal speakers turned off)... I love the Bifrost!!!

Thanks a lot... I appreciate the responses I've gotten on my little system... I like the NAD 326... I am always wondering what type of sound I would have though if I had gotten a tube amp instead... Don't get me wrong though, I like the NAD... I also had upgraded the power cable to the Pangeas AC-14SE... In fact, I also ran a new circuit for my setup... I'm really considering ordering a set of the Goertz Sapphire interconnects to go from my dac to my amp and taking the copper Micropurls and put them on the pre-amp out in place of the jumpers... Hopefully that would give me a little bit of an improvement...

Now how about the diference between the Goertz copper and silver? Should I spend the extra and go with the silver Micropurl?

Thanks for the comments... Eventually I would probably be looking into getting into a tube amp... From the work I've done so far, I'm very impressed at the sound that I'm getting from the Psb's... I notice things today that weren't there last week while listening... I've been thinking about replacing the cheapo interconnects that I have linking the pre amp out stage to the amp... I'm not sure if I want to go with Goertz or try some Morrows... I know Morrow has some very interesting reviews and it's making me wonder what they would do for my rig... Any ideas on the matter? Thanks again for the comments...
