Description

This system brings lots of enjoyment. My room is 20 feet by 30 feet with 12 to 18 foot ceiling. This is a very open and live sound not much damping to the system.

If there is any way to get updated photos, that would be fun. I believe it can be a pain to do...just a kind request from someone who admires your 'old system'!

Hi Jeff. I have a set of Psvane WE 845 tubes on the way. I read your comments on them and saw a used pair come up here on the Gon. I look forward to hearing them.

Excellent that you have the new Absolare amps and Rockport speakers. I did not realize until I read the posts, assumed no change since photos had not been changed.

I would love to hear the Rockports in that room. That was the other speaker on my list when I made my purchase.

albertporter

hoo-hoooooo! That's a recommendation if ever there was one! Nice...I will have to try to hear those. 2 other owners have been equally enthusiastic. Thanks! Enjoy!

Lloyd all my cables are the Echole's they replaced my Siltech's and let me tell you no contest.

jwm

JWM,

Are you at all considering the Echole cables which I believe the designer of Absolare also makes? I have heard unbelievably good things about them.

Lloyd thanks for your nice comments. I agree with you. I just added a refurbished Technics 1506 reel to reel machine with a tube bottlehead tape stage to bypass the internal electronics of the unit. I'll post my findings on this when I get a few tapes.

I don't know how I missed this thread...fantastic read from start to "finish"...hope its not finished by a long shot!! Congrats...I have heard the Altairs and Rockport probably are my favourite speaker line. I have heard the Arrakis and much older Merak Sheritan IIs as well.

As finely tuned as my system now is to my trusty old Wilson X1/Grand Slamms...which have been modified a bit...I often think of my next move...and Altairs are at/near the top of that list.

Enjoy!

Come now Charles. I jest.

Jeff, you have gear that transcends all the crap we own. You have to oblige our voyeuristic demands....

agear

Agear,
You're truly obsessed with my clinically aesthetic photography.
Seriously, Jeff definitely should post pictures of his beautiful Absolare Passion mono blocks front and center sitting between his Rockport Altairs. Those ESP speakers are long gone.

Its the Absolare Passion amps and preamps; don't know the name altius.

jwm

Jwm,

I just heard the Absolares Altius with the Magico S3. It was a wonderful immersive, ethereal sound. Which version of the Absolares do you have?

cmarin

The answer is clear:

Jeff, keep us posted on your experience with the Romulus. Aesthetix is a very fine company. It seems like a lot of meticulous engineering goes into their products...

Maybe to the Tripoint Troy, but I don't know where I can place it.

jwm

Don't get me wrong the digital setup I have now took lots of patience and hard work to achieve this great sound. I had to address vibration control, the right digital cable, power cords, and NOS tubes. I kid you not without the above the sound of the Lampi was thin, mettalic, and I did not want to listen very long.

Well isn't that the gospel truth (when it comes to digital). If more philes realized that, there would be less equipment roulette. Do you have any interest in the Tripoint Troy given Charles' findings?

The 7 should be interesting, but I am sure it will require the same due diligence. The nice thing about the latest version of the 7 is that you have the option of switching between a 45 and 2A3. I am unsure which way it will go. Most of the online verbiage regarding those tubes concerns amps, so who knows? I will start with the EML 45s and roll from there....

agear

+1Jeff's comments. I've heard his system often (analog and his digital front end) and both are excellent and very resolved. The Lampizator readily responds to fine tuning (cable, cords and component vibration management). It definitely competes with the exceptional turntables and surpasses the average ones. It reproduces music with natural qualities.

Agear the Lampi compares very well to my analog rig. It has the same bloom, warmth, 3D as my vinyl setup. I feel the vinyl gives me a little more of there there than the digital, but not by a big margin. My point is you now have to spend a big some of money on analog to beat this Lampi. I can go from digital to vinyl and back again with no problem. In the past when you went from digital to vinyl it was hard to go back to digital until a few days passed. I wish you many hours of music bliss at the L7 is their top effort. I needed balanced capability or I would have went with the L7 as well.

jwm

Jeff, who does the Lampi stack up to the table?

agear

Jeff, thanks again for the Ella and Louis LP tip!

How is the ORB DeStat thing working for you? I thought I'd buy one too.

Also, I've noticed that you have the Audio Desk LP cleaner. I did too, but recently sold it to get the new one from klaudio.com
I saw it in Munich two weeks ago and was very impressed. No mechanical contacts with the LP.

BR,
Alex

Sweet. I was not trying to be a jerk. I just wanted to ogle your Absolare, Lampi, Rockports, and the rest of the fabulous stuff you have cobbled together....
