Description

The system is the result of 45 years of music listening on a budget. The dedicated room was a ground-up design as part of a custom new home build. The room measures 19L x 13W x 9H. Front wall has 2 layers of drywall with acoustic glue and flooring is carpet with underlay over concrete. The new MG-1.7s replace a pair of Gallo 3.1s and are revelatory. Covers are dark gray with silver aluminum side rails on Mye stands. They're just breaking in but the sound is detailed and engaging with uncanny imaging and micro-dynamics. I'm a Magnepan convert.

The Final Tool replaced an LP12/Lingo/Trampolin/Cirkus which I'd been tweaking since '87. After reading threads on this and other sites, I decided to search amongst the high-mass family of tables and narrowed the list to Teres, Galibier, Acoustic Signature and a couple of others. I decided not to (still) wait for Galibier's Serac so ordered the FTII on spec. Solid German design - it's extremely well made. Much lower noise floor than the LP12 with a bottom end both tuneful and extended and great dynamics. And best of all, it's truly "set and forget" unlike the LP12.
