Just added a Leben RS-30EQ phono pre-amp with a Luxman MT-88 step-up transformer. I got a cable from EMT to bypass the electronics of my EMT, connect direct to the cartrigde and to connect to the step-up transformer
It will be interesting to see what the difference is with the on-board electronics of the EMT 950 BBC.

<< wonder..where i cn get this cable?

thx... wonder why audiogon do not allow send message to other member now?

System edited: Just to add: with the digital calibration and setup options I am able to virtually eliminate the response deviations in the bass range and producing an extremely linear frequency response. This is a real addition to my endulgement!

System edited: Have added an Velodyne DD-12. This improved the bottom of the K1 substancially and made it more 'robust' without losing it's focus and clarity.

I am considering vivd v1.5 over my existing Focal Micro BE. I have not listened to the vivid speakers. What I sense though is an unconstrained, natural and coherent sound with the addtional qualities of a dynamic speaker.

If you can could you comment on what you found appealing about the speaker?

Thank You

System edited: New speakers complete new experience! The difference between my previous B&W 802D's and the Vivid Audi K1's is giving me a complete new listening experience. More impressive and lasting impression!

System edited: I've changed my speakers from B&W 802D to Vivid Audio K1. The listening experience is completely different. Level of detail(better) and coloration (less) gives a more relastic musical experience

I like my Cardas cables very much. I started to buy them with keeping in mind my expected set development (I did not want to buy new cables in 2-3 years, to much write-off) I run them now for over 4 years. I tried other cables but the price/performance of Cardas was for me ok.

The only good judgement are your ears!

Hi Teeball,

Keith Monks has an office in the USA . You can find the details with http://www.keithmonks-rcm.co.uk/.
I do not have experience with VPI or Loricraft. My experience with the Monks is that you really need to develop yourself the best modus of operandi. It takes somewhile to work in the right way with the machine. Remember the machine works very well (in combination with the fluids etc) but delivers no miracles! (the condition etc of the record is also of big importance!)

Cheers,

Tj.P.

Hi!

Nice system! I also run B&W + tubes, but they are 804S and a McIntosh MC275, so not as top notch as yours. I've heard 802D + tubes at my dealer's and just loved them.

I'm due for a speaker wire upgrade and I see you are running Cardas Golden Reference. How do you like them? Why did you choose them? Did you try alternatives?

Thanks a lot!
Horacio

Hi, very nice setup. Can you tell me, is there a US distributor for the Keith Monks RCM. Also, how do you like this machine opposed to others such as VPI's higher end machine's, that is if you have had any experience with VPI machines. Do you know of a pricing list for the Monks machine. I just recently returned to vinyl after a very long hiatus period, and decided to purchase a VPI Scoutmaster w/koetzu black cart. and Eastern Electric ph. preamp. I also have the B&W 802D's in place. (wonderful speakers). In fact, i have a full array of B&W spkr. setup for my HT also. Any suggestion's are well appreciated. Thanks.
Terry.

Hi Jfrech,

Thanks for your comment. My EMT is still 100% original and restored by EMT-Lahr (F. Zimmer). Is functioning flawless. Sonical I'm very happy. The next step will be to shorten the signal path (reversible) and upgrade some of the electronics on board (two different cards) which have been developed by EMT-Lahr (Dusch). The beauty of the EMT is the performance and the ease of use (for mono, you just exchange the cartridge, 25 seconds work). Real value for money and very ,very hard to beat!

How is that turntable? I've seen one or two for sale and I have wondered about it. I know your Monks is to die for and almost as good as a component purchase...

Congrats on a super system!

System edited: Needed to update because of change in set-up location. Room has been refurbished. "Benz" Black leather couch/sofas etc taken out and white "Mariani" couch put in (takes 25% of the space!. Very busy with modifying REF3. Put in 6H30 DR "diamond". System is now being breaking in. Latest addition is replacement of Lexicon RT-10 by RT-20.

System edited: Keith Monks RCM has arrived. I've started experimenting with the machine. The debates on which cleaning fluid to be utilised are interesting. I understand that Keith Monks comes in September 2008 with a cleaning fluid to be utilised with the RCM. Should be the ultimate combination/solution for perfect clean record! Keep you updated!

To avoid confusion (my english is not always clear).
The combination Kronzilla SXi-S in combination with ARC REF3 gave a little hum. The current combination Kronzilla SX-XLR with ARC REF3 is dead, dead quiet!

broederen

Owner
System edited: The Kronzilla SXi-S is replaced with a Kronzilla SX-XLR. The reason was to have a better match, because of difference in input sensitivity between Kronzilla SX-XLR and SXi-S, in combination with ARC REF3. The system is now dead, dead quiet before a little hum.

I've ordered a Keith Monks RCM "Archivist". I'm looking forward to incorporate this masterpiece into my system. This will open the "ear" for my collection of vintage jazz and opera records. I did not want to spoil the endulgement because of sub-optimal circumstances.

System edited: I have taken out the T+A powerbar and the PSaudio Duet. I found out they were limiting in my system. The cabling will be repalced by Oyaide gear.

Of course it must be: the amp is running cooler!

broederen

System edited: I have changed the set-up of the system to overcome two issue. One was to avoid spending 1-2K usd on XLR cable to connect EMT with ARC and give more "breathing space" to Kronzilla. Nper was right, this works better amp is not running cooler.

broederen

Owner
Hi Nper,

Your remark regarding "breathing space" has been delt with the small fan (absolute noiseless!)to provide a constant laminair(?) airflow around the Kronzilla. This works very well. The heatdissipation of the tubes in taken care of in a controlled way. The reason for the set-up as now has to do with "wife" effect (the obvious issue) and a planned reorganisation of my listening room.

Cheers,

broederen
