Started the hifi game in the seventies while in 8th grade with David Hafler amp and preamp kits, Allison four speakers and a dual turntable. This is my main system. Man cave in basement for record storage and second system, Eico hf-81, garrard 301/klipsch la Scalia. Will post soon. Still 100 %vinyl.
Gorgeous set up! Love the bowls in your kitchen by the way - cabinet doors are overrated. I'd love to see the downstairs system with the La Scala's too. I'm still new to all this, and a little floored that folks into Shindo and DeVore would also be into Klipsch.
Paul, I'm always looking for people who integrate their systems into actual living spaces. I'm fascinated by the fact that you have a particularly clear vision about your spaces that is consistent from room to room. Makes me embarrassed that I'm the one who is an architect....better get my act together! Beautifully put together.

Coincidentally, i am also in the Chicago restaurant biz and had the pleasure to meet you on several occasions years ago around the time Blackbird was first getting started. You may or may not remember Spruce, which is where I cooked at the time. Regardless, again my compliments on your incredible system and best wishes during these times!
You have a beautiful system and I'm sure it gives you a great deal of enjoyment. Don't know if you could bring yourself to drill some 1" holes in the bottom of each section of your cabinet but I'm sure your amps would love you for it. Enjoy
The fan is by the modern fan company. As far as the treatment on the beams, the are beautiful Douglas fir. We simply shaved off the bottom 1/16 of an inch. No sanding or sealing.

Beautiful system, aesthetically and I'm sure sonically. The BDDW furniture is something special, they also make turntables and a two way speaker under the moniker Philadelphia Audio Corp. I heard the speakers in their NYC showroom driven by some large Mac amp at background levels so it was hard to assess them, my impression was they are marketed as an "accessory" to their furniture line. Beautiful cabinetry, however.
One question, there seems to be no listening chair/couch in the part of the room where the equipment and speakers are. Do you move a chair to the sweet spot when listening and then move it out of the way again when you are not doing any serious listening?

I love your system and am equally intrigued with your kitchen. I live in an 1898 house and have toyed with a similar ceiling treatment in the kitchen. Did you sand it then seal it?
Thanks their stuff looks great. My only question is whether my Line Magnetic Integrated is too heavy (77 lbs) to sit on top. The cabinet may breathe enough for one GM-70, but I don't think 2 845s would survive for long unless out in the open. Will have to get in touch with them. Thanks again!

The cables go down through the floor and pop up at the speakers. I redid my basement years ago. Perfect opportunity to sink cables underneath. As far as getting the amp out of the cabinet, i would agree, but it’s not going to happen. They've been in there 4 years and sound terrific. No troubles so far. They do get a fair amount of air through the f holes in back.

Love your system. However, I equally love your coffee grinder and Dualit toaster and other kitchen accoutrements! A man after my heart combining high end audio and kitchen tools for combo music lovers and foodies. I have done the same.

Hey chef awesome looking system just wow! And gorgeous home too. I love that credenza it is gorgeous but perhaps it would be best to get the GM-70's out of there? I know it's aesthetically pleasing but I worry for the long term health of those great amps. And nice kitchen system most audiophiles would be overjoyed to have that as a main system. The heat inside the cabinet seemed a bit extreme to me. One of the plexi faceplates distorted slightly from the heat. Didn't want to ruin them. More importantly, i think they sound better(maybe I’m a little crazy) with them off. And yes. Chef in chicago.
Excellent choice in equipment. Especially like your amp/preamp and speakers. I've been looking at DeVore speakers for a while, but can't make them fit in my budget. May have to settle for a DIY version of sorts.
