I use VD Master LE speakercable, which replace Kubala Sosna Fascination. VD is very open, detailed but without loosing musicality. Needs long burning in time. Have 2 VD David power cords on trial. Will post my findings.

Thanks for the very nice comment ! Since all these babies cost a lot of money, I think they have to look well too. I'm a design guy... :-)

The turntable is a custom made Transrotor Leonardo with 40mm acryl base and 80mm platter. I went to the factory in Germany and they made just what I asked for :-)

mattheus

What a great system that you have. The turntable looks very impressive and beautiful. Top notch system.

Hi nice system,
I like Metronome players. I have just ordered VD master LE cables how do you find them and what did use before?

chadeffect

One of the most tasteful systems I have seen an A'gon. Congrats!

Dave,

Thanks for the compliment. I designed the rack myself and had it made by a local carpenter.

Cool rack!

I am trying to design a rack large enough to hold all of my equipment (including a turntable) plus a 50-inch TV on top of it. I have some basic designs but I am having trouble finding anyone to actually make it.

Everything looks very handsome, clean and well organized.
congratulations on a beautiful looking (and sounding, I'm sure), system

Greg,

The Turbo NT actually is an upgraded, newer and better version made by SL at request, but is in a black industrial housing (bigger than standard). I plugged it in yesterday and my first impression is a bigger soundstage and smoother highs, more 3-D. But this baby seems to have a long burning in time, so I will have to re-evaluate continuously.

mattheus

Using the Turbo on yr RG3 will lower noise floor and give better stability in reproducing dynamic content. In practise, it will sound as if the upper frequencies are more extended and that more energy "flows" consistently. It doesn't change the basic reproduction parametres of yr electronics. So, if the sound fm yr ceramiques becomes a tad strident at times, it's not yr preamp -- don;t worry. It's the modes of the ceramic drive units used in the speakers.

Hi Aaron,

This is the '322' from the German brand Rolf Benz. I already got the 3-seater but I want this one too :-)

Thanks for the nice comment. BTW your rig is 'nice' too ! How about the seat in the sweet spot ?

mattheus

Hi Mattheus,

Very classy looking rig you have there, well done. Can you provide some details (price, manufacturer, etc) on the gorgeous black leather armchair and ottoman that should be your next upgrade?

Best Regards,

Aaron

System edited: Bought SME IV and will be replacing the 25mm basis of the Leonardo with 40mm one. There's a little chance I might buy a Transrotor Super Seven...

The tweeters are doing VERY VERY VERY well. They softened a bit. Sound is now extremely open, detailed and 3-D. This is a very huge upgrade, which brings my CE2.2 close to the CRM2.3. Bass bettered too.

My brother in law had the ceramic tweeters, which also made a big difference compared to the stanaderd soft domes. The titaniums however take you just a few steps futher to audio walhalla !!

mattheus

Hi Renaat,
How are the titanium tweeters breaking in?

System edited: DCCA Audio PowerWave3 on the RG7 amp. Adds 'weight', transparancy and smoothness to the sound. Yamamoto PB21 ebony footers under the Kharma.

Mattheus: when I follow your thread I must say you are the hardest working man in high-end audio. So many additions and replacements..You are really beating me ;) Hope you will sometime find a system you are totally satisfied with. Believe me thats a long way and will cost a lot of bucks ..
Good luck!

Joe,

I just got the Kharma's back yesterday evening with the new titanium tweeters, as are standard in the CRM range.

My first impression is that the sound is much more spatious, has more detail, a lot more depth and 3-D. Highs are detailed but not too edgy. Overall sound is a little more 'light' than before, so I will have to manipulate cables a bit. Ofcourse the tweeters have to burn in for about a 100 ore more hours.

I have to thank the guy from Kharma who was so kind to get and bring back my speakers, so the upgrade could be effected in the factory.

Very recommended !

mattheus

Hi Renaat-
Let everyone know how you like the Kubala-sosna cables in you system. I am also curious as to what you think of the tweeter upgrade. Thanks again for the assist with Kharma in helping to get my SDSS stands to the US.

Joe
