Description

Recently changed the MF A300 for the A5. More drive with the bigger output of the A5. Also have just added the Wadia 170i and Audio Note DAC to the combination and enjoy the flexibility of the iPod interface.

A move of house has changed the sound somewhat, with hard floors and highly reflective surfaces, so may look at damping the room in the future.

System is used for music, tv, movies rather than dedicated audio. I have a couple of other small systems I use for my "get away from it all" music listening (see bedroom systm photo). If synergy is what it's all about, then I'm very pleased with my current set up. The MF front end and amplification blend nicely with the Mordaunt-Short speakers (review posted a few weeks ago).

There is upgrade potential for the future but I'm happy for the moment and just enjoying the music.

Hens,

Your welcome.

Thanks for the kind words. I guess that you're referring to the system with the Zu Tones in my work office (Pathoslogical)? Yes, it sounds as good as it looks. I've had a couple of friends in there whom are local HiFi dealers and it is fun to see them shake their heads in disbelief. Despite the room being somewhat "live" with all the glass and what not, the carpet, furniture, and acoustic tiles go a long way towards taming this and balancing things out.

If you get a chance, check out my V3Ms in my home office(Second System Sanctuary)? Lovely sounding as they are, the ACs are a wee bit big in there and will likely head into my new office being built in China. It's a much bigger room that should suit the V3Ms much better.

Congratulations again,
Garry

Hi Hens,

Wow! Forget "effective" - I think you should change the system name to "Simple But Stunning"!:) Very clean and well integrated with the decor. Funny thing is, it is not easy to make it look simple - it takes a lot of thought and work. Needless to say, your wife must be thrilled - very well done.

The MS P6 is a really nice speaker and great VFM. Heard it with the Nuforce 9SEs and it was very impressive indeed. Very transparent and balanced top to bottom range-wise, with quick and tight, but not overemphasized, bass. Given this, it seems odd as to why it is not a more popular and/or talked about speaker?? Having heard just about every piece you have, I can imagine how wonderful your setup sounds.

Hard to tell from the picture, but are those Rogers speakers in your bedroom? If so, they must sound very sweet with the Cayin (another VFM champ).

Hens, no need to upgrade for quite some - you've really got a quite a nice system (actually 2) there!

Congratulations and happy listening,
Garry
