Depending on what types of music you listen to, you might want to think about some Maggies for your system. It's like taking the hobby into a completely new direction. Otherwise, Dynaudio makes the most sense as an upgrade, if your budget allows it. Nice work & Good Luck!
The extra shelf is a must...maybe some bright star isonodes ($12.50) are worth trying out w/ the cdp. PS audio ultimate outlet would probably help the amp out some, but I would save the $$$ on that and try to get a pair of Sonus Faber concertinas or maybe some totem monitors. I'd probably listen to the PSB stratus minis also in that price range.
awesome system. That's basically the effect I've been going for on my system. I've got the B&W/NAD thing goin on too. Question: did you look at the NAD 533 turntable as a lower-priced alternative to the Music Hall? I ask because I am considering both of those. The Music Hall is considerably more expensive, so I'd like to know what pushed you in that direction if you did in fact choose it over the NAD 533....thanks....
Atagi and Dlwask... I guess my thinking is aligned with yours. I tend to favor monitor speakers, and ProAc and Dynaudio are high on my wish list. However, I just left my job (a job that would have afforded me the luxury of those types of speakers) to go back to school, so I may have to wait two years. But hey, that's could be good too... let's me focus on building up my music collection in the meantime.
The_kid... your right, doing something to address the power situation is definitely needed. I don't have much experience in this area so your advice is much appreciated.
Muzikat... you know as obvious as that was (being that the arhcetype is easy to add on to) I never really thought about that...thanks. That idea may allow me the room to try some DIY isolation techniques with the cd player.
I really like the simplicity of your system and bet it sounds very nice. I prefer monitors for reference listening to music. Two way speakers just appeal to me and seem to get things "right". I also owned a MMF-5 and really enjoyed it. If I have learned anything in this hobby is that simple is usually better. My advice, install a multiple AC outlet and get rid of that power strip. You will be surprised at the difference and it is inexpensive to do. Cheers and good listening to you!
I did the same thing with HT. I lost interest in it and started building up a 2 channel system with the existing components and slowly replaced/upgraded them. That was a while ago and now I'm enjoying 2 channel more then ever and don't regret leaving HT behind.
Nice system. Tweak suggestions...it's low on the list but maybe a power conditioner/line filter. If your sticking with bookshelf speakers try ProAc.
