I guess my thinking is aligned with yours. I tend to favor monitor speakers, and ProAc and Dynaudio are high on my wish list. However, I just left my job (a job that would have afforded me the luxury of those types of speakers) to go back to school, so I may have to wait two years. But hey, that's could be good too... let's me focus on building up my music collection in the meantime.
The_kid... your right, doing something to address the power situation is definitely needed. I don't have much experience in this area so your advice is much appreciated.
Muzikat... you know as obvious as that was (being that the arhcetype is easy to add on to) I never really thought about that...thanks. That idea may allow me the room to try some DIY isolation techniques with the cd player.
