Beautiful system!!!! I have just purchased an Octave v70SE and are considering the Wilson Sophias. I presently have Tyler Acoustic Lynbrooks with REL sub. Have you tried your Octave without the black box? Do you consider it necessary?
yes, it's quite a change.. However, I am happier with the sound with Octave V80 and the bşack box, Pass was a very powerful amp however octave is more detailed, open and fast. Pass was only just a little better with the bass. Other than that valves are more aromatic and sweet . I recommend Octaves with no hesitation.
Cemito, I`ve heard many positive comments regarding the Octave amps. What is the lower powered intergrated amp providing that made it preferable to the much higher powered Pass? This is quite an interesting change. Best Regards,
just noticed your conversation and thought i'd mention that my friend who has a pair of sophia2s finds that tubes really mate very well with those speakers.we both have the same amps manley retro 250 monoblocks and while i currently run older thiels (and am looking to upgrade them soon) he has been extremely happy with how well that amp compliments his system.i hope this information might be helpful in your search for musical nirvana.
Good stuff! I just got my X2.5 and a pair of X600 monoblocks, and i can say that nelson pass is without a doubt one of the top 3 audio designers around.
moster or home depot have cable orginers to group your exposed cables into one proffesional cable-would look much better. amazon carries off white which would blend right in with your walls.

Watt/Puppy 8 lerile mukayasa edebildinmi? Benimde şu anda Pass X350 amplifierım var. Ses kalitesi bakımından süper bir ampdir ama evi çok ısıtıyor. Senin Sophiaların ne renk lerdi? Teşekürler. Volkan
You might not need pass x350.5 with sophias however ıf you listen in higher volumes the pass x350 will remain class a more than x250.5.. ayre cx-7 is a very goodcd player up to 3000usd however ı am planning to upgrade it with reimyo. by the way I shoul admit that sophia 2 is a very very excellent speaker
Beautiful System. I'm also looking to use Pass Labs gear with my Sophias (Diamond Black). I'm currently using Krell KAV. Is the power of the X350.5 needed for the Sophias, or would the X250.5 do? I will also go with the X2.5 Pre, it's a great deal. Did you try many CD Players before settling on the Ayre?
hi Aporigine thanks for your comment .. I am using acrolink an 2070 full copper xlr interconnects between pre and power and cd and pre.. happy with them speaker cables need to be upgraded vdh scs-6 was ın my previous system actually it is a good speaker cable, planning to upgrade, no choices yet
I also want to improve cd player as you said .. p8 dcs is a good choice.. I know the product and really liked..my other favorites are reimyo cdp-777 accuphase dp-500 accustic arts transport DAC.
In the near future preamp can be aupgrade with passlabs x1 or x0.2 regards cem
Add mine to the applauding voices. Beautiful system; not one bit of "fat". Since the heading is "opinions please", I'll venture two upgrades I'd entertain. Your mileage may vary; everyone's tastes are different, doubly so in the auditory arena. 1) Upgrade the preamp. Going from Pass X2 to the 0.2 in my system - it was not subtle. I haven't heard the 2.5, so whaddoIknow? ;) 2) One-box CD: dCS P8i can be had for a tasty markdown. Me, I'm committed to the "more than one box" approach, but I doubt it will be a huge improvement over the integrated solution, esp. when pondering the question "which interconnects?". Which interconnects have you tried between player and pre, between pre and power amp? How did you arrive at the choice of vhH speaker cable? Thanks, cheers apo
There is NOT one thing in this system which is a negative. It's a superbly built system from the ground up.

To even make that list just shows how good of a speaker you chose.
