Lloyd, thank you you are too kind.
Glad you got a 948- a truly marvel of a unit that allows to sound to come thru unadulterated.
yes, enjoying this system immensely!
hope you and yours are well.

Hey Ozy,

Just a note to say hi, and thanks for your inspirational thread here. I just picked up a Burmester 948 Power Conditioner (2nd hand), and am really enjoying it. Much better (for me) than my Nordost Thor and Transparent Audio power conditioner which i used to use.

Hope you are continuing to enjoy your tremendous system.

Owner
Zephyr, great to hear that you are making headways. the esoteric gear is formidable and will get better and better as you use it more.
Appreciate the kind words. i'm enjoying it Immensely.

The D-02 is in now and totally broken in on RBCD and SACD as of today. It's a huge upgrade...as far as my upgrade-itis being in check, I'd say we aren't done yet :-) but I enjoy the system every day regardless.

I've said similar things before but will say again, as regards your system Ozy, beautiful room, amazing collection of great components and system choices,...simply stunning!

zephyr24069

Will do Ozy...the P-02 continues to amaze even hooked up to my old D-03 in terms of what it pulls off recordings I know extremely well. I cannot wait to hear what the D-03 sounds like. I wound up picking up another one that should be here in a few days. I still have the "dirtbag to chase" for my original one or some other 'resolution' but I'll be able to complete the setup of the P-02 with its brother DAC very soon.

Thank you sir! please update your system post when your upgradetities is completed and under control... (for a while at least...)
Yes , love coming down there and disappear....

ozy

Happy New Year to you too!!! P-02 just hit the system 2 days ago and other than the wrangling I'm going through with a 'challenging' seller for 5 weeks now, I expect a D-02 to arrive shortly one way or the other. My system post has more details. Your room is absolutely beautiful and must be a joy to kick back and listen to music in.....

Owner
Zephyr-- thank you for your kind words! love your system as well. the vicoustics treatments offer a good bang for the buck, and are really attractive in person. and effective to boot. happy listening, and happy new year!

ozy

Ozy...your system continues to evolve and get even more beautiful....love the room and how the entire system is setup. Those amps are truly massive and beautiful too. I'm also thinking about the Vicoustic panels; their various options might just help me get over the ultimate WAF issue :-)

WELL DONE!!! Happy Listening!!! (many of us are very envious I'm sure!!!)

Owner

Owner
Mattnship, have tried in the past "audio grade " fuses only to reverse course and reinstall the originals.
there's a lot of fluff out there... certainly wouldn't replace them in the burmester gear....

ozy

Hi Ozy. Any thoughts on aftermarket audiophile fuses in the Burmester gear?

mattnshilp

Owner
mattnshilp-- you are most welcome. and thank you for that compliment.i will.

ozy

Ozy,

hummm, don't take this personally and I respect it's your opinion but do kindly describe the differences of what you liked because after three years of listening too many set-ups just don't get it - they are nice but in comparison;

My personal findings of MM3's are;

I prefer the EA's ribbon tweeter, midrange and bottom end frequencies by far just for starters, Focal's over all sound congested in comparison, don't go near as high and accurate "do some comparisons with big band music "trumpets - singer which goes way up there" and you will hear the Focal's tweeter break up where with the EA's you find it will just keep going and leave you in awe. Midrange - Focal's just aren't on par - comparison is obvious and bass as a whole which is the foundation of all music - no where in the same league period.

I have found the stage "performers and instruments" heights and size to be more realistic in size with the EA's and demonstrate differences better making the listening experience more realistic.

Dynamics would be the only area I would say that are close but due to the capabilities mentioned above and below the EA's win.

With the Focal the sound at most comes from between the speakers, with the EA's besides between also offers nice layering like on a stage, behind the speakers along with outside of the actual speakers.

Yes as mentioned Matt best you hear, it really comes down to a personal choice, Focal's in my opinion are way over priced also and why they are so heavily discounted.

dev

I'm in no rush as my current system is sensational and I love my Vienna Acoustics Der Muzik 's. I'm looking for the next step and that will require many hours of auditions and fun times. Both are world class, so either way I win.

I needed to learn about setup and you gave me that info. Thank-you.

You have a killer system. Enjoy it.

mattnshilp

Owner
Mttnship--yes, have heard the ea a couple of years ago before deciding on the stellas. obviously, i voted with my own ears and wallet not to get the Eas.try it for yourself and decide.

ozy

Really. I thought the Evo MM2/3, and certainly the MM7 would be equal in quality but different in flavor to the Utopia Stella EM and Grand EM. I am trying to find a pair to hear. Have you heard them?

mattnshilp

Ozy have you actually heard the EA's?

Mattnshilp, before you buy best you hear both, it won't be hard to hear the differences :-) - I would personally take the EA's over the Stella's and EA MM3 model over the Grande's any day.

dev

Owner
very true- the stella is very "flexible" in its fittment to different size -rooms, but i like to keep them au nautral....
not sure i'd compare the stella and the evolution, with all due respect.......

ozy

Of course.

I am seriously considering a pair of Stella Utopia's. I spoke with Focal and they said that with the many adjustments available on the Stella Utopia's, they can fit in smaller rooms.

I needed to know and understand your placement better. The only other speaker I'm considering its the Evolution Acoustics MM2.

mattnshilp

Owner
I found that speaker placement and its relationship with the listening position is crucial and should not be compromised.
every room is different and personal tastes dictate many of the constraints one faces when trying to obtain the best sound from his/her speakers. that said,i'd say it is more important, inmho, to invest in that process then say an expensive power cord, for example. just my $0.02.
