Description

It is now 2015 and I have finished my Lamm Signature Triad(ML3,LL1,LP1)It is without a doubt the finest I have seen or heard,I am done with electronics.I am still using the Avalon Isis,it just grows on you and never gets old.I am still up to date on my Walker MKV,I added the oiless and carefree compresser, what a dream.I added a second Troy signature for the ML3s and it works superb,I also am using 4 Thor SE grounding cables in the system and they are a tremendous achievement.I am using Dalby audio single and Duo isolation feet under all my components, they are a component unto themselves. And last but not least the latest and greatest Elrod Diamond cabling to tie it all together.I almost forgot the MD 809 Internet Tuner,a real work or art.

I will add new pictures in a short while.

Regards Robert

Hi Strapper, I love your system. I too have a Coralstone Platinum, but not with the diamond cantilever. Since I have never seen one, can you describe what a diamond cantilever looks like ? Is it clear like the stylus ? Is the stylus/cantilever essential one carved out piece ? Just curious. Thanks in advance.

The CAT amp and the Lamm are so different in power rating, topology, power supply configuration and design concept etc. This should be a very interesting contrast in ability to drive the Avalon and which match reproduces music more convincingly.

Fantastic. I love my Lamm ML2.1 amps but you are in another galaxy with the ML3s. Looking forward to reading your listening notes.

Beautiful system, I love Avalon speakers and like Steve I'm eager to read your report on the Lamm ML3.

Hello Robert,
A tube amplifier with stout power supplies and premium transformers with a 4 ohm tap and you`re ready for business. +1 Agear`s comment.
Charles,

Bad ass system bro...

Hi Charles,
The Isis is 90 db efficient but it has a almost straight 4 ohm curve, that dips to 3.6 minimum,I hope they get along.

Robert

Strapper211,
If your Avalon has relatively high and flat impedance curve with gentle phase angles, that`d be ideal.I`d give up a few db of sensitivity as a trade off to obtain compatible impedance characteristics. That`s what really determines ease of amplifier/speaker drive result.

Beautiful stuff, Steve!!

Strapper211, I sent you a message via Audiogon to your Audiogon Inbox. Thanks for any advice on your Tripoint Troy!

I have an easier time driving my X2's at 95 Db efficiency than your Avalon Isis but nonetheless you are in for a jaw dropping treat. IMO the ML3/LL1 Signature series by Vladimir is the finest sound I have ever heard in almost 50 years in this hobby.

Hi Booboobaer and Oneobyn,

Thank you for the kinds words about my system,it has been a labor of love but I think nirvana is at hand.Since I inserted the Lamm LL1 and LP1 I have been on cloud 9,it is the finest most natural sounding gear I have ever owned,so addicting the way it presents the music. The ML3s are coming in the near future,I hope the Avalon Isis and the ML3s see eye to eye, from talking to Avalon they said the Isis has a very even amp friendly impedence curve and should respond well to the amp. We'll see.

Robert

strapper211

you need that Lamm ML3 Signature to go with the LL1 and LP1 Signature

oneobgyn

Strapper, I bet you have a nice sounding system. I always wanted to hear the Avalons. Looks like you put a lot in to your system.

booboobaer

Good luck Strapper211! Look forward to your thoughts after listening to the ML3s for some time with your system.

Thank You all for your input,it is greatly appreciated.I think it will come down to having them for a period to see if they can drive the Isis with the Quality and Sound level I am use to before I buy.I hope they can because they are a sonically incredible set.

Strapper211,

Fantastic system...your utter commitment to the best has really paid off. As for Lamms, speak with Oneobgyn...who also founded whatsbestforum. he uses the ML3 with his X2s...more efficient and probably a kinder load...but anyone who has ever heard his system even in his prior room which was larger has said it never showed the slightest flinch when pushed beyond deafening levels. always in control at any volume or dynamic range.

I suspect with your Avalon's which are supposedly tougher load, you could well still be fine...the current capability of the ML3 seems pretty great from what i'm told. But again speak with Oneobgyn (or Vladmir directly).

lloydelee21

At that level, you would think Vladmir himself would offer to set a pair up in your room to see if it can drive the Isis well. I think it will come down to your preferred listening levels.

Hi Dev,
I love CAT gear, and it took the 75000.00 Lamm Signature front end to make me want to change from the CAT Legend, shows you what a bargin the Legend is.It will come down to completing the Lamm with the ML3s or get the CAT Statement amps.If the Lamm works I think that would be a tremendous triad.

Robert

strapper211

Wow! Robert that's gonna be a tough call and the ML3's are large coin. As you know I owned a pair of Isis speakers years ago and had them paired up with numerous amps including tube amps such as the ARC 610T's, VTL Ref750's and would have never contemplated using the low power of the ML3's that you make reference too.

I just can't see them offering what your CAT's do in control but one really won't know unless they try. At one point there was a pair floating around for demo so best you go that route.

Other Isis owners I know of all seem to be using some pretty serious power to drive theirs also.

Why aren't you going with Ken's latest Statement pces. You have been a happy user for many years.

I would have loved to have heard them with my current Vac gear

Best of luck, the journey really is never ending.

Hi,

I am so impressed with the Lamm LP1 and LL1 signature components that I am tempted to go the whole route and get the ML3s.Does anyone have any opinions on the ML3s driving the Avalon Isis,I am using the CAT JL3s now and they drive them well do you think the Lamms can get the best out of Isis. The Isis is 90db 4ohm 3.6 ohm min.
I am on the fence, would appreciate any input.
